Scott is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a major in business management and organization. In 1997, he received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He turned pro in 1998 and four years later, after completing a three-level Golf Professional Training Program with the PGA, he received his PGA Professional Certification.

 

Scott received his training as a golf instructor and general manager from pros at the prestigious San Diego Golf Academy at the San Marcos Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona (one of the oldest golf courses in Arizona). The Academy has affiliations in eight locations across the country, including Arizona, San Diego, Orlando, Hawaii, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

 

Scott began his career with a management company at the Raven Golf Course in Arizona, a golf course rated No. 1 in the world for guest service. This is where he honed in his golf course management skills studying and working at many golf courses with different demographics and different experiences.

 

He also traveled to other properties and relocated in San Destin, Florida, where he opened up the Raven Golf Club at Sandestin, and he served as the outside supervisor for one year. He also worked as the first assistant golf professional in Stratton, Vermont, a 27-hole golf facility, working under Golf Professional Danny Caverly.

 

From there he was promoted to his first Head Golf Professional position in Michigan at a very private Tom Weiskopf designed golf course, Forest Dunes, voted as the Best New Upscale Course in 2003 by Golf Digest.  After spending one season at Forest Dunes Scott was then transferred back to Arizona to become the General Manager of the Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch, a semi-private course where he remained before relocating to Connecticut.

 

He takes pride in the fact that he was born and raised here in Torrington, Connecticut and is excited about the upcoming transition. His wife Jada and two children, Echo and Brogen share in his excitement of the 2013 golf season.

 

When asked about his vision for Green Woods Scott stated "I want to make Green Woods a friendly, enjoyable experience that people want to be a part of. My long-term goal is to return Green Woods to its private status."

Josh joined the team in the spring of 2012 with a background in retail and a longtime passion for the game of golf. A graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 2005.

 

Shortly after graduating he made the trek across the country to Big Bear California spending time as a snowboard instructor and ski bum. In 2007 Josh started working for the family business selling lumber and building materials while specializing in merchandising and customer service, learning the ropes working under his father.

 

During that time he took a position as a caddy at The Bulls Bridge Golf Club. After a summer of caddying on the Tom Fazio designed golf course Josh realized that he wanted to pursue a career in golf and got a job working at GWCC in the Pro Shop.

 

Josh plans on attending the Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach in the fall of 2013 to get a degree in golf course management.

Adam (Scooter) Vaccari has been a member of the Green Woods staff for several years as a groundskeeper, looper, and pro shop assistant.

 

After being crowned State Champion during his senior year at The Gilbert School, Adam took his talents to the University of Connecticut where he has continued his progress as a member of the golf team.

 

Adam is a former Connecticut PGA Junior Player of the Year and a 4-time Green Woods Club Champion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jim joined the team in 2010 with many years of experience in the golf industry.  Jim’s experience started in the business working summers in 1983 at C.C. of Farmington. After that in1987 he began full time at Hop Meadow C. C. in Simsbury.

 

In 2001 Jim became the Assistant Superintendent at Tower Ridge, Simsbury. By 2005 Jim was Golf Course Superintendent of Tower Ridge. In 2006 Jim accepted an opportunity with Turf Product Company (TPC) servicing area golf courses in irrigation sales and as their service technician.  

 

Jim missed the maintenance side of the business because in 2008 he went back to Hop Meadow.  Jim has a passion for presenting a quality product and the Green Woods Country Club membership is very lucky to have him as their Superintendent.
